Data, Statistics and Surveys

  • ICPSR: Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research Established in 1962, the Inter-University Consorium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) is an active partner in social science research and instruction throughout the world. ICPSR's unique combination of data resources, user support, and training in quantitative methods make it a vital resource for fostering inquiry and furthering the social sciences.

  • SSDC, Data on the Net A listing of over 350 Internet sites of numeric Social Science statistical data, data catalogs, data libraries, social science gateways, addresses and more.
  • Statistical Abstract of the United States "...the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States."
  • Survey Research Center The Survey Research Center is the largest of the four Centers of the Institute for Social Research. For more than 50 years, the Survey Research Center has been a national and international leader in interdisciplinary social science research involving the collection or analysis of data from scientific sample surveys.
  • U.S. Census Bureau's American FactFinder An excellent source for statistics on population, housing, race, income, education, businesses, and geography of the U.S.
  • United Nations Social Indicators Social indicators covering a wide range of subject-matter fields, including child-bearing, child and elderly populations, contraceptive use, education, health, housing, human settlements, income and economic activity, literacy, population, unemployment, and water supply and sanitation.

  • Association for Applied and Clinical Sociology The Association for Applied and Clinical Sociology seeks to promote the application of sociological knowledge for beneficial social change through scholarly, educational, programmatic, community, and policy activities.
  • Rural Sociological Society The Rural Sociological Society is a professional social science organization that promotes the generation, application, and dissemination of sociological knowledge. The Society seeks to enhance the quality of rural life, communities, and the environment.
  • The Southern Sociological Society Established in 1935, the Southern Sociological Society is a society of professionals that promotes the development of sociology as a profession and scientific discipline by the maintenance of high academic professional and ethical standards, and by encouraging effective teaching of sociology, valid and reliable methods and research in the study of human society, diffusion of sociological knowledge and its application to societal problems, cooperation with related disciplines and groups, recruitment and training of sociologists, and development of sociology programs in educational and other agencies.
