Bots, Intelligent Agents and Artificial Intelligence
- 1st Spot Agents, Robots, and Spiders Link list to sites related to bots, agents, and spiders and their development. Also includes links on agent etiquette, security, and software you can use to make your own bots.
- A.L.I.C.E AI Foundation A non-profit organization promoting the use and development of the Alicebot and the AIML software used to create bots. Includes free downloads of Alicebot and AIML along with documentation and articles.
- AI Depot News, essays, tutorials, and articles covering various artificial intelligence issues including path-planning, neural networks, bot development, genetic algorithms, and more. Very comprehensive. Articles come from news agencies around the world. There is also a community area with several topic and level specific discussion groups.
- Artificial Intelligence Link list from bitpipe.com for sites relating to artificial intelligence.
- BotSpot : The Spot for all Bots & Intelligent Agents The place to start when looking for information on bots and intelligent agents. Has some basic information, but its strength is in the lists of links to other sites about bots, creating them, and using them.
- Intelligent Agents Link list from compinfo.ws for sites relating to intelligent agents.
- Swarm-bots Web site for the Swarm-bots project sponsored by the Future and Emerging Technologies program of the European Community. The main focus of the project is the development or self-organizing and self-assembling artifacts using "swarm intelligence" theories.

Cyberculture and Computer History
- Computer History Museum This museum in Mountain View, CA bills itself as one of the world's largest collections of artifacts, documents, films, and photographs relating to the history of computers. The online site includes a 55 year timeline (1945-1990), searchable by year or topic. Online exhibits include a history of the Internet (1962-1992) and the evolution of the microprocessor (1971-1996).
- Electronic Frontier Foundation The Electronic Frontier Foundation is a member-supported organization that works to educate, promote, and defend free speech, privacy, and civil liberties in our digital age.
- Resource Center for Cyberculture Studies The RCCS is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering collaborative research and study of the new field of cyberculture studies. Chiefly academic in nature, this site will most likely appeal to those teaching or studying in a university setting. The site includes interviews with major figures in the field, links to cyberculture course web sites, and "book of the month" lists. A list of individuals interested in collaborating with others is also available. Participating individuals represent many fields of study including: communications, education, political science, sociology, and more.
- The Jargon File (The New Hacker's Dictionary) A glossary of hacker slang currently maintained by Eric S. Raymond. It has been published in print as The New Hacker's Dictionary.
- The Jargon File (The Original Hacker's Dictionary) A glossary of hacker slang from the mid-1970s through the mid-1980s was published in print in 1983 as The Hacker's Dictionary.
- Triumph of the Nerds The companion web site for the PBS television special of the same name (1996). Includes a history of computing that goes back to the abacus and a complete transcript of the program. The transcript includes interview snippets with folks such as Bill Gates (MicroSoft), Gordon Moore (Intel), Steven Wozniak (Apple), Steven Jobs (Apple/Next), and Christine Comaford (Corporate Computing, Inc.).
- Voice of the Shuttle: Cyberculture Voice of the Shuttle is a site designed "to provide a structured and briefly annotated guide to online resources that at once respects the established humanities disciplines in their professional organization and points toward the transformation of those disciplines as they interact with the sciences and social sciences and with new digital media." The Cyberculture area has links to a wide variety of web sites covering topics such as art, business, censorship, ethics, economics, AI.

- ecommerce-guide.com A great starting place to find the latest news, trends, and business tips for online commerce. Includes online consumer surveys and marketing information. Also has information on handling the back-end systems for online commerce.
- IBM Institute for Advanced Commerce Technical papers, online forums, news releases (chiefly contests and conference notices) on issues in e-commerce. Pretty technical and IBM-centric.
- ITworld.com Information on using technology in business, managing IT, networks, security, and more. From future trends in use of the web to managing the servers, this site has broad coverage of IT in business.
- The Cluetrain Manifesto "we are not seats or eyeballs or end users or consumers. we are human beings – and our reach exceeds your grasp. deal with it" The Cluetrain Manifesto is a set of 95 thesis set out in 1999 by Rick Levine, Christopher Locke, Doc Searls, and David Weinberger in response to hearing "they just don't get it" about companies trying to move their businesses online. They have published more in-depth information about their ideas in the book by the same name. This is a small site, but worth noting for the Manifesto. Includes a list of signatories (you will probably recognize many of their names) and their comments.

- Digiplay Initiative Articles and news by an "research collective specializing in consumer research in the areas of digital games, adoption of technologies, online well-being and intellectual property crime." Researchers are from the Centre for Research on Innovation and Competition (CRIC) at the University of Manchester and The Department of Psychology at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) in the UK.
- Gamasutra A trade journal for the professional game development market by the producers of Game Developer magazine.
- Game Developer Conference The Game Developers Conference (GDC) states it 'is the official trade event "by developers for developers" of computer, console, mobile, arcade, online games, and location based entertainment.'
- Game Research Provides short introductions to topics with links in an attempt to bring together knowledge on computer games from the areas of art, business, and science.
- Game Research and Technology A list of abstract and applied resources for game research and technology.
- Game Studies: The International Journal of Computer Game Research Game Studies is a crossdisciplinary web-published peer-reviewed journal dedicated to games research.
- Games for Health "The Serious Games Initiative founded Games for Health to develop a community and best practices platform for the numerous games being built for health care applications."

For books about computers, computing, programming, and engineering visit the QA76 - QA76.9 area on the 3rd floor of Schwob Memorial Library. The books for business applications, management, and e-commerce are a bit more spread out. Visit the 2nd floor and look for the areas around HF5548.32 and HC79.I55.

- CERT Coordination Center CERT is the Internet Security branch of the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute. The CERT Coordination Center provides a clearing house for Internet Security issues and helps guide the Internet communities response to major security incidences such as the Melissa and Love Bug viruses and the Y2K transition. CERT accepts incidence and vulnerability reports from around the world and compiles them into advisories available to the public. CERT also distributes information on patches and fixes for these incidences and vulnerabilities.

This page changes every time you visit it because the articles you read here are completely fake. The articles you read at this page are created by a computer system using the Dada Engine. Information about how the articles are created and links to other hoaxes and generated texts are available at the bottom of the page.
- Urban Legends Reference Pages: Computers The Urban Legends Reference Pages by Barbara and David Mikkelson contains information about urban legends in many subject areas. While not comprehensive (there's only so much two people can do) this site does contain good information about some of the most popular. Each hoax/legend is clearly marked with an indication of whether the virus warning is a hoax or not, and the information to back up the true or false status is available, either from the snopes.com site or from other reputable sites.
- Vmyths.com This site is not sponsored by anti-virus companies and does not accept advertising from anti-virus companies, so it claims to be the "truth about computer security hysteria" The authors do seem to have an ax to grind, but in spite of that they also have good information about various virus and trojan hoaxes including solid tips on how to spot a hoax computer virus alert that anyone using e-mail should read. Also has an option to sign up for e-mail alerts and a weekly newsletter.
