Music Library Facilities Statistics:

    3,740 gross square feet
    Seating capacity of 54
    c. 31,000 vols
    5 study tables
    12 carrels
    small conference table & white board
    2 PC tables & 1 long PC counter
    Bench, 4 upholstered chairs, and 3 occasional tables

The Collaborative Learning Room is outfitted with a networked PC, VHS, DVD, 30" LCD screen, white board, and small conference table. It is available for small group (up to a maximum of 10) instruction, study, or group viewing. The room may be reserved in advance or used on a first come, first served basis.

Public Equipment/Software:

Fifteen public workstations provide access to GIL, GALILEO, the Internet, Microsoft Office, CougarNet, and CD ROM/CD playback. Thirteen of them support CD/DVD playback/burning; fourteen support Finale; workstation nos. 7 and 8 support MacGamut; workstation no. 7 supports Jaws and Zoom Text) and all PCs are networked to a *b&w printer. Four  workstations are connected to scanners.   WiFi is not yet available in the Music Library.

*Faculty/staff and non-CSU patrons may print from the six PC workstations along the counter.  Print jobs will go to the Service Desk.

Visitors:

Visitors should sign in at the Service Desk.  As a special collection, it is expected that non-CSU patrons are engaged in music research and comply with the CSU Music Library and Columbus State University computer use guidelines .  Visitors that would like to use media playback equipment or computers must present a current picture ID to staff at the desk.   Staff must log visitors on to PCs.  Print jobs may be claimed at the Service Desk ($.10 per page).

School of Music Keyboard Lab:

The Music Library provides public access to the School's Electronic Keyboard/PC/Mac Lab during the library's normal operating schedule. The Lab is used for class instruction and by CSU students for related projects. It is administered by the School of Music.

Instructional Technology Support Equipment:

The Music Library stores and circulates to faculty/staff a small collection of instructional support equipment: 2 camcorders & tripods; 6' portable screen; 19" Video monitor with a DVD/VHS player; 27" TV with a DVD/VHS player; audiocassette player; boom box; LP player; portable digital video projector; digital projector & PC with a DVD/VHS player; overhead projector; opaque projector; slide projector.

Faculty/staff must check out in person and return equipment during the normal music library operating schedule; reservations are highly recommended. Equipment use is limited to the RiverCenter or CSU downtown-area affiliated facilities.

Equipment needed for off-site use (e.g., at a conference outside of Columbus) should be borrowed directly from the ITS department (706-568-2043) in Schwob Memorial Library (as well as any equipment not stored in the Music Library). Faculty/staff are expected to know how to operate equipment prior to checking it out. Training is available from staff in ITS.

Music Library staff do not deliver, pick up, or repair equipment. Repair requests are forwarded to ITS. There is no intra-library courier for transferring ITS equipment at this time.
