GALILEO Information

What is GALILEO?

GALILEO (Georgia Library Learning Online) is an initiative of the University System of Georgia, initially funded by Governor Zell Miller and the General Assembly in 1995, with continuing funding from Governor Roy Barnes and the General Assembly for the Citizens of Georgia.

GALILEO includes:

  • over 130 indexes to journal, magazine, and newspaper articles;
  • is web-based and accessible on and off-campus (password required for off-campus use);
  • contains some online full-text articles and books;
  • includes reference databases such as dictionaries, directories, and encyclopedias;
  • includes categorized lists of World Wide Web resources;
  • allows you to send reference questions to your local librarians using the "Ask a Librarian" button.

For more detailed information, please see the About GALILEO information pages.

GALILEO is available for public use in the Library. It is also available in all on-campus computer labs and from all faculty offices. Just point your browser to http://galileo.usg.edu.

Several databases provide full-text articles. Some full text articles require the use of Adobe Acrobat Reader to display properly. You can download Adobe Acrobat Reader here.
