CSU Libraries > Government Documents > Overview & History Overview & HistoryEstablished as a federal depository library (No. 0120A) in 1975, the collection of United States government documents covers a variety of topics to assist students with their curriculum needs and provide resources for the community. Information for students focuses on Education, Health, Criminal Justice, and Political Science. Also, there are documents available about consumer issues, census, business, earth sciences, recreation, and other areas. The federal documents are arranged according to the U.S. Superintendent of Documents (SuDocs) Classification System. This system is based on the issuing government agency. One to three letters identifies each agency. Thus, the SuDocs number for the Department of Justice begins with "J" and "ED" identifies documents from the Department of Education. Except the letters "X" and "Y" represent publications, hearings, reports, etc., from our legislative branch and regulatory agencies. In addition to the federal documents, there is a small collection of Georgia State items. These documents typically are annual reports, statistics, Georgia Laws, and periodicals. The documents at Schwob Library are listed in the catalog. Our federal and state documents are available in different formats, paper, electronic, microfiche, etc. Many documents published since the late nineties are available electronically. The link in our catalog is identified by the phrase "Linked Resource"; click the url or text to the right of the colon. |
