Child Care Experience and Self-Regulation in Early Childhood
After providing a brief overview of child care experiences of children around the world I would like to present a study with preschoolers in the U.S. The aim of this study was to examine the role of child care experience in the development of preschool children’s self-regulatory skills and social adjustment. Participants were 107(67 males, 40 females) preschoolers. In line with the previous research findings, self-regulation was positively associated with social adjustment. In this study the children-staff ratio and teacher-child interactions were among the most important aspects of the child care experience that needed to be taken into account in linking child care, child temperament, and behavioral outcomes.
