
The summer is always a great time for movies! Did you know that several films have been filmed not only about Columbus and the surrounding areas but also in them as well? Visit the library June 8 - August 16 and find out more about Columbus and its very own "Hollywood Connections." Popcorn not included!


Nunnally Johnson, a native of Columbus, Georgia, was a successful Hollywood screenwriter from 1933-1967. Some of his 51 screenplays included The Three Faces of Eve, The Dirty Dozen and How to Marry a Millionaire.

The movie based on the events that brought the corruption to a violent end was filmed on location in Phenix City. Included in the library display is the original movie poster from the film. |


Carmike Cinemas, headquartered in Columbus, Georgia, is the nation's largest theater chain in the U.S. It evolved when Carl Patrick and his son purchased Fuqua Industries in 1982. Carmike enjoyed much growth in the 20th century despite Motion Picture Exhibition challenges.

In addition, The Green Berets, A Time for Miracles and Kiss of the Tarantula were also filmed locally. Stop by the library this summer to find out more!
