This display has been created in conjunction with "Remembering Nunnally Johnson: A Centennial Celebration," a conference sponsored by The Archives Simon Schwob Memorial Library, Columbus State University. The goal of the conference was to commemorate and explore the life, works and achievements of Columbus native Nunnally Johnson, who went on to become one of Hollywood's most famous and prolific screenwriters. Held December 5 - 6, 1997, in Columbus, the conference achieved this goal by offering presentations and commentaries by four humanities scholars and one film industry representative. The conference also featured a panel discussion, a film montage, the showing of a Johnson classic, The Grapes of Wrath, and a short-story contest for high school students. Also in conjunction with the conference, the Archives compiled a collection entitled Nunnally Johnson's 'Riverside' Stories and Other Selected Works.

Text for the display was written by Thornton Jordan, assisted by Callie McGinnis. Research was provided by Dr. Jordan, Ms. McGinnis, Tracy Elliott and Matthew Stefanko. Ms. Elliott, with assistance from Leslie Partridge, handled the formatting of the text, while Jon Haney produced the graphics. Unless otherwise noted, most photographs for the display were provided by Mrs. Nunnally (Dorris) Johnson. The display was constructed by Murphy & Orr Exhibits, Forest Park, Georgia.
