Stacks Maintenance Employee Manual: The News Stand
Not all students participate in the maintenance of the News Stand. If you are assigned to shelve, straighten or read the News Stand, take note of the following instructions.
- Each plastic covered periodical must be in place over its shelf label. Back editions are kept behind each metal tilt shelf. To access, lift up the bottom of the shelf.
- When shelving or straightening periodicals, place then in chronological order, with the most current issue on top and the oldest issue on the bottom.
- When information appears on the spine, and space allows, shelve the periodical with the spine facing out at the edge of the shelf.
- If you have any questions concerning the location of a periodical (after checking the periodicals index), ask for help at the Circulation desk or Periodicals office.
