Stacks Maintenance Employee Manual: Bound Periodicals
Not all students participate in the maintenance of bound periodicals. If you are assigned to shelve, straighten, or read bound periodicals, take note of the following instructions.
- Bound periodicals are kept in alphabetical order by exact title, volume, month, and year. Periodicals known by their acronyms are shelved at the beginning of each letter section.
- Bound periodicals are shelved and straightened with the spine at shelf edge. Volumes to long for the shelf will overlap the edge. Bound periodicals that do not fit upright are shelved with the spine down.
- Be aware that the exterior color of a bound periodical may change. Always check that the title matches exactly.
- Indexes to a title are shelved at the end of that title set.
- If you have any questions concerning the location of a periodical (after checking the periodicals index) ask for help at the Circulation desk or Periodicals office.
