Periodicals

If Columbus State University Library owns a particular magazine or journal, it usually will be shelved in one of five places in the library: the microform room (near the reference desk), the microfiche cabinets (reference area), bound periodicals (just inside the entrance), current journals, or The News Stand (older issues underneath each shelf). In each area the periodicals are arranged on the shelves alphabetically by title and chronologically within each title.

Two other periodical locations are the Government Documents Section and the Library of American Civilization microfiche collection. For assistance in searching GIL for a periodical, interpreting the "Periodicals Holdings List" or locating magazines, consult a librarian.

Current issues of newspapers are located in the News Stand area. Limited back issues of newspapers are located near the current journals. Many newspaper back issues are available on microfilm. Please consult GIL, the "Periodicals Holdings List," or a librarian for information about particular newspapers.
